EXPO CENTRE
WHAT A SUCCESS!

Auto Africa
After hosting the enormously successful Electra Mining, Expo Centre has just successfully hosted
Auto Africa, the first internationally accredited motor show to be held on the African continent.

With more than 250 000 visitors attending Auto Africa, the event more than lived up to its promise in terms of the standard of the exhibits and the vibrant atmosphere pervading at the Expo Centre.

Pula Dippenaar, Auto Africa’s Exhibition Director said, “We very pleased that the management of Expo Centre also played an important part in upgrading their facilities in line with Auto Africa’s accreditation by OICA, the Paris-based international organisation of motor manufacturers. Auto Africa is on a very exclusive list of only 22 motor shows in the world to have been selected for this rating in 2006. 'We have sold out all the exhibition space on the site which extends over more than 50 hectares. This means that the visitors are spread out over the site viewing the vast array of exhibits making for easier access and less over crowding – often a bugbear of attending a major show,' added Ms Dippenaar. 'The close proximity of Expo Centre to the M1 motorway and N1 freeway and parking for more than 12 000 cars makes this a very user-friendly show for visitors.'

The general impression and ambience of the show is similar to what one enjoys at the major motor shows in other parts of the world. Some of the companies imported all or part of their displays direct from the Paris Motor Show, held in September. The general layout of the stands at Auto Africa this year is one of welcoming open spaces, with generous space between the different vehicles on display.

Man Suite
Launched during Auto Africa, the Expo Centre unveiled their new state of the art convention venue.
This multi-purpose venue has two levels including a column free area downstairs, which can accommodate 300 delegates, and a dedicated boardroom, reception counter, and a lounge area.

Once upstairs an “African Chic” theme prevails with a dedicated bar, lounges and al fresco dining area making this the perfect venue for conferences, cocktail receptions, themed events and product launches.

Such is the appeal of this venue that it recently hosted the Revlon 24/7 “LIVE IT UP” Competition. This competition saw the winner and 7 friends living a dream weekend that included being transferred by limousine all weekend, staying in a deluxe suite of a luxury hotel, being taken for a ride in a Lamborghini, and having a flip in an old time Harvard.  The weekend culminated with a party of lifetime for the winner and 200 VIP’s at the Man Suite.

And the events continue ……..
Telkom decided that the perfect venue to celebrate their 15th Birthday on 24 November was the Expo Centre!  Over 2500 Telkom employees enjoyed a day of fun, food and festivities!  Top South African musicians such as Mendoza and Arno Carstens provided the entertainment for the day.

Expo Centre was indeed extremely proud to be the host venue for the International Day of Disabled Persons on Sunday 3 December.  Close to 2000 delegates attended this event that both embraced and celebrated this prestigious day.

And Finally ….
On Wednesday 6 December, Expo Centre will host the
SAACI NTB Year End function for 2006!  We have decided that this will be a party with a difference and the theme is Ola Mexico!  We have no doubt that the Conference, Exhibitions and Events Industry will have a day to remember!
